Lenders in Renewable Energy

The top lenders for Renewable Energy are one of the top performing Institutions of India and Global. This shows the level of due diligence and enquiry they do for every application they get for approval and fund allocation.

These institutions have very good and well established networking to get themselves funds, and due to that many a time they have a very rigid and hard approval system which can only be cracked through extensive networking and relationships.

Following are the most prominent lenders in Renewable Energy, and they include Green/Clean Energy, Green Hydrogen and Electric Vehicles etc. The specific sectors can be easily found on the website of the Lenders as most of them are listed or provide clear directions so that no one waste their and own time for application.

Lenders : INDIA

  1. PFC
  2. REC
  3. IREDA
  4. IIFCL
  5. ADB
  6. IFC
  7. Namdev Finvest

A. PFC

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) is one of the top NBFC Company in India, and has gathered global recognition for it's contribution to Power Sector of India and different countries of globe. It's focus sector majorily includes Solar Project and Electric Vehicle Financing, these sectors where your proposal is clean and shows a clear path will get a easy Loan / Debt for it.

What are the criteria of PFC for sanctioning a Loan to any entity and how does the process goes, as per my understanding :

The criterias' are

  1. Sectoral Focus
  2. External Credit Rating
  3. Financials
  4. Repayment and Security terms and negotiation
Whereas the process is very simple the Loan application if goes above the first approval is seen by two teams one Entity and other Project. Majorily the PFC focus on giving loans to the Project in Solar and Other Renewable Energy Projects.

You can know more about the process and criteria by visiting their site, even comment down for any query I will be happy to answer it.

B. REC

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is a subsidiary of PFC and is also one of the top NBFC. While it also in many areas surpass the value addition and contribution to nation by PFC.

Popular Remarks of people say that REC is faster and strict in Loan Application filling and approval. REC also have the same lending sector as PFC i.e. Solar Projects and Electric Vehicles.

REC has exactly the same process as the PFC but REC has faster pace and divisions to move around to get quality projects and company to fund.

While I have worked in transactions of Debt by these NBFC, the Loan Application Process usually is self paced, as you have to define everything in the forms provided & general information required. But the processing time is not self paced, it's fast & depends on your networking with the institution to provide left-over important information.

C. IREDA

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) specifically focuses on Energy Sector which includes the following means :
  1. Wind
  2. Hydro
  3. Bio
  4. Solar
  5. Energy Efficiency & Conservation
  6. Waste to Energy
  7. New & Emerging Technologies
Their interest rate matrix is very clear and helps all to understand the scheme of things where they fall and how they can get lower interest rate by making their conditions better. Basically they grade the projects and companies from Grade 1 to 6, based on their internal check.

I haven't worked much in the case of IREDA but their form and every document to be filled is very much available on their website to look and fill & file.

D. IIFCL

E. ADB

Small Lenders

i. Namdev Finvest

As per the above lenders they are largest and has many processes to go through whereas Namdev is rapidly going NBFC which provide accessible and tailored made solutions which is not possible in above Government Sector Lenders.

Namdev is a privately help NBFC and main focus of sectors are : Solar and E Richshaw loans

This doesn't include other sector which we talked above, this is basically for small borrowers whose need of Debt is not much.
