Energy Sector of the World

Starting from 09.02.25, 12:25 PM India

The most important thing that drive the success of all industries is the Energy Industry, the growth, innovation & future matters a lot for all of us.

India

India is seeing the Energy Industry now from the specs of Green/Renewable Sources, it's capital intensive but the most sustainable and long run requirements for us, it requires innovation, support and more human capital every moment we live by.

What's the current stats ? : (the  below data is as on 31.12.24)

According to Central Electricity Authority of India,
  • Total Renewable Energy Source (RES), Installed Capacity is 162476.58 MW
  • In which Solar is  97864.72 MW.
India is now able to get almost near to 50% - 50% in Thermal and Renwable Energy Installed Capacity where :

Thermal being  244376.91 MW & Renewable being  209444.75 MW and total Installed Capacity is  462001.66 MW.

Finance Industry Outlook

The outlook of the Lenders and Investors towards funding a Green Energy Project is very soothing, as compared to thinking of giving their money to Thermal and Nuclear Energy Plants.

While working in Investment Banking over the years, I have seen the trend that most of the Lenders and Investors see the industry of Renewable Source Energy Production as gold mine and trend of the next 2 to 3 decades.

As if I take the example of a Solar Power Plant, it's average life span rages in 25 to 30 years and the investment come back in 5 to 6 years after that the Project becomes a Cash Cow and Cash Flow comes as a passive source of income if all the arrangements are set and everythings goes well.

We see a lot of innovation in this industry, where the Tariff use to be ₹ 14 has fallen to ₹ 4 and below in India per KW the industry is becoming more economic and viable to invest in.

2025

India has a Goal of touching the 500 GW of Renewable Energy by 2030 and have already achieved 204 GW as we have already read before.

But as the going concern of Energy Demand, the Government has shifted there focus and have said to go for Energy Production from Coal as there is no choice left and another reason is Global Scenario that we will read in Global Scenario !!
